Learn to think positive
When things go bad in your life (for instance if a loved one of you gets diagnosed with cancer), everyone tells you to think positively, that when you do you will have a positive outcome. But how do you think positively when everything seems to be going wrong in your life? What I know for sure is that positive thinking is extremely easy when things are going great in your life, it is easy to expect a positive outcome if all is going well, because you are in a great place in your life. You will find more benefit though, if you think positively no matter what.
Thinking positively takes practice, it will not just happen overnight and to be able to benefit properly you will have to consciously channel your thoughts to be positive. Negative thoughts will find a way to creep into your mind, and it is up to you to decide whether to entertain them or not. The best way to learn to think positively is to force yourself to think about something positive that has happened in the past. This will take practice, but when you find yourself thinking negative things, you need to be able to force a positive visual in your mind.
Every single one of us has positive memories and those are the memories that you should hang on to and draw strength from. When your mind seems to be polluted with negative thoughts, you need to pull one of these positive thoughts and dwell on it.
One other strategy that works in helping you learn how to think positively is all about thinking about the victories that you have had in your life, or things that you are good at.
Think about things that you are good at
Think about your best qualities that people always remark about
Think about things that you are grateful for
In the midst of a challenge, it might become extremely difficult to think about something positive, but if you allow yourself to go there that will be half the battle won.
Focusing constantly on things that have gone well in your life will confirm for your mind once again that you have had victories before, and you can have them again. Try and ask yourself questions that will have a positive answer from experiences that you have already had.
For instance, ask yourself "why I am so blessed?". It is impossible to have a negative answer to that question and these are the kind of questions that you should focusing on.
When something bad happens in our lives, it is almost too easy for thoughts like "This is not fair", "Why me?" "Life really sucks". Discourage your mind to entertain these kinds of thoughts, and of course, there will be questions like "Why is this happening to me?" that will arise in your mind. You need to train your mind to refrain from entertaining thoughts like these.
It has been said that what we think about affects the outcome that we will have in the different situations that we go through. It has been said that when we think positively, we attract positive things, and that when we focus on the negative things we attract negative things.
Thinking positively can only influence your life positively, so you should start as soon as possible. Every day, find something to be thankful for. Take time out of your day and acknowledge 5 things that went your way that you are grateful for and start developing the habit of positive thinking.
